PLTO Know the Pitch: Reebok Stadium

by BrianHall on April 18, 2010

Year Opened: 1997

Stadium Capacity: 28,723

Reebok Stadium or “The Reebok” as it is more commonly referred to was obviously not a stadium that was built in the mid-1800′s.  Although the Bolton Wanderers do have the burden of having the most commercial name of any Premier League home labeled on their stadium, it is also one of the nicest and newest stadiums of any in the league.

It is considered the fifth, sixth, or seventh newest stadium in the league because in 1997 three teams debuted their new home.  Although the stadium is not as big as Sunderland‘s Stadium of Light (which was built in 1997) it is still bigger then Stoke City‘s Britannia Stadium by about four hundred seats.  “The Reebok” is the seventh smallest Premier League venue, but it is home to the Trotters none the less.

The coolest attraction at the Reebok is the fact that you can view a game in the stadium and also stay at the hotel which is attached to the stadium.  If you made enough money as a Bolton player you could most likely stay at your home field overlooking your home pitch every evening before you go to bed.  The hotel offers rooms with a view of the pitch from almost all angles making it one of the best hotels to stay at if you are obsessed with Bolton.

Reebok Stadium has hosted several music acts including Elton John and Coldplay as well and the venue has also hosted events for many other sports including boxing and championship darts matches as well.
