Please Be Nice To the Buc Fans

by BrianHall on October 25, 2009

99.9% of the time I write about Premier League football on this site, but today I wanted to write about another type of football that will be showcasing its skills across the pond this Sunday at 1:00 PM Eastern U.S. time.  The Tampa Bay Buccaneers will host the New England Patriots in an NFL football game played in England today in what has become the annual NFL England match of the season.

One thing you likely did not know about the Yank (or care about for that matter) is that I am a die-hard Tampa Bay Buccaneers fan.  Admitting such a thing at this time would be similar to admitting that one is a die-hard Portsmouth fan or a die-hard Wolverhampton Wolves fan.  In other words there is not too much to brag about for the Bucs recently.  If I had one piece of advice to anyone this weekend take the 14 point spread the Patriots currently have.  This one could get really ugly.

First off, the game heavily favors the Patriots for around one million reasons.  There coach, Bill Bellichick, has m0re Super Bowl rings then any other current coach and their Quarterback is who other then Mr. Gisele, Tom Brady.  And Tom threw five touchdowns last weekend in the first half of a snow storm in a game the Pats would win by over fifty points.  What’s the weather like in England now?  Is it around 80 degrees like it is here in Tampa?  Nope.

Secondly, what really hurts the game isn’t what the Pats have, but what the Bucs lack.  First year head coach Raheem Morris has yet to win a game in his short career making his total wins the same as you or me.  Also the Tom Brady-Josh Johnson QB match-up is not quite as sweet as say Brady VS Peyton Manning.

So if you are England this weekend and desire to watch a lopsided game then Tom Brady VS the winless Bucs is the perfect pick.  But if you want to make better use of your time and also make a quick buck this weekend then by all means PLEASE TAKE THE 14 POINT SPREAD.

Yank’s Prediction:   Pats 49 – Bucs 7

But if I were you guys in England I would likely avoid this one and wait for a more legitimate match-up shortly arriving like the next Lingerie Bowl.
