Man U Must Continue the Good Fight

by BrianHall on October 9, 2009

There aren’t many clubs that can have the kind of start Manchester United has and still are labeled “suspect” by football critics worldwide.  But unfortunately that is the case for the three peat Premier League champions this season.  Manchester United has hardly lost at all this season, but part of their problem is the way they are winning.

Now I will agree that there are no ugly wins and a win is a win or whatever saying you’ve grown accustomed to, but if the Red Devils want to be considered the league’s best then they need to start playing like it.  With narrow wins over Manchester City and Arsenal, Man U has proven like usual that they are a powerhouse club, but they have lacked some of the finishing power that they have had in years past.

Obviously losing Ronaldo and Tevez is not going to make your offense any stronger, but Manchester United has struggled to beat not only tough clubs this year, but also some of the not so great clubs as well.  New boys Burnley proved this early on in the 09 campaign by handing the club one of the most fascinating losses in years.

But with a week off and keeper Edwin van der Sar near full health, Manchester United knows the time to make a run is now.  This upcoming month Manchester United faces off against first place Chelsea and also Liverpool, so the big matches will keep on coming for Fergie’s squad all year long.  Manchester United has something to prove and with clubs beginning to overlook the squad they may find themselves in the perfect position as the season continues.
