Reports doing the rounds suggest that Liverpool are in the market looking to buy a striker to bloster their attack. The Reds have been linked with Tottenham striker Jermain Defoe who Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish is willing to offer £10 million to acquire.
However a tug of war is emerging between Tottenham and Defoe with Redknapp set on keeping him at White Hart Lane while Defoe is bent on leaving after already telling his agent that he wants to move in this transfer window.
Liverpool’s situation is almost desperate as Luis Suarez is suspended for 8 games and the pairing of Dirk Kuyt and Andy Carroll yet to prove effective, Dalglish is in the market looking for solutions.
According to a Liverpool source, the Reds could either sign Jermain Defoe or Lille striker Mousa Sow.
“There are two strikers [Liverpool are interested in],” former Liverpool player Bruce Grobbelaar told talkSPORT.
“I know that [Kenny Dalglish] is looking at a South American striker who is playing in Holland and I know that he’s quite close in getting another striker.
“I’m not going to be the one to actually tell you who, but I’m sure that the striker will be arriving soon.”
Redknapp is set to be holding out for a £20 million bid for Defoe who he has called a big player for the club.
“We are not selling him. He [his agent] is saying this club wants him and that club wants him – that is how they make their money.
