Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish is positive that his side will pick up all the 3 points on offer this Saturday when they host Manchester United at Anfield in a crunch Premier League fixture.
United are the early run away leaders of the EPL with 19 points after winning 6 of the 7 matches played so far. Liverpool on the other hand, are a further 6 points behind in 5th place. The match of course will be a stun test for both sides who are in need of wins.
However, the question that many people might be asking themselves is whether Liverpool have the mental strength to see off United. Only a few days ago, Liverpool striker Luis Suarez had ruled out any possibility of the Reds winning the title this year.
I said it then, and i will say it again, Suarez’s comments were premature. There is no denying that United are the team to beat, however, should Liverpool win on Saturday, then they will reduce the gap to just 3 points.
That said, United do have an advantage over Liverpool. It is very obvious that United picked up on Suarez’s comments and they will be looking to make good on them.
Speaking on the matter, Kenny Dalglish was quick to re-assure fans that the club had given up on winning the title.
“People say this is the biggest game of the season but I don’t look at any game as being big or small,” Dalglish said. “It’s another game, another three points for a win.
“The only difference this time is the fact that, if we win, we will move a bit closer to them.
“It’s an opportunity to help yourself and dent their chances at the same time.”
The Red’s go into the match on the back of three successive home wins and Dalglish believes that Saturday’s tie will be could provide a new twist to the EPL race.
Having won the same fixture last season 3-1, Dalglish is confident that his side can pose a serious threat to the top 3 teams. I see the match ending in a draw. United might be leading the table but Liverpool are no pushovers. The best case scenario for many United haters (Arsenal especially) would be a win for the Reds.
