Could Ganso Join Queens Park Rangers?

by Philip Mboya on January 18, 2012

According to QPR boss, Mark Hughes, the club is nearing the completion of a move for Brazilian sensation Ganso. Ganso has long been a target for some of Europe’s biggest clubs however, in the recent few weeks, the EPL has looked like a very real destination for him.

With a host of top sides all after Ganso’s signature, it is shocking that he would opt for QPR. Not that they are a bad side, its just that it is is every young footballers dream to play for a big club.

Speaking after his side’s 2-0 win over MK Dons in the FA Cup 4th round, a confident Hughes was optimistic about signing Ganso as well as former Chelsea defender Alex.

“Things are ongoing, I’ve been busy this evening obviously,” Hughes said.

“But the hope is that we can get number of the deals done. Ideally that would be sooner rather than later but I can’t tell you if that’s going to happen anytime soon.

“I think talks [with Alex] are ongoing. I spoke to the boy yesterday and went through what we’re trying to do here and my feelings towards him as a player. I have a huge regard for what he could do for us here. Things have to fall into place before you can get the player over the line. Until I get an update, that’s as much as I know.

“[The Henrique transfer] seems to be progressing, we’re hoping to conclude that. He’s the type of player it would be good to attract to the club if we can. Those are the type that can sustain you in the future so if we do those deals I think that will help us.”

Though no concrete information on Ganso’s transfer has been realsed by Santos, it is possible that the talks could break down – not that i want them to, (ok yes i do want them to), but rather because no official statement has been released from the club.

However, with Santos President Luis Alvaro Ribeiro recently saying that he is open to negotiation with Ganso if he is ready to leave the club, the 22 year old midfielder could leave Brazil very soon.
