Cole Eying Play For Three More Years, Support Sturridge Return

[champions] Chelsea x Juventus : 5Chelsea‘s aging squad have been discussed as one of the thing that causes their failure this season and that’s pretty much theres rumors spreading that the Blues’ owner, Roman Abramovic, are preparing major rejuvenation next summer, by replacing some of the 30+ players.

However, this plan doesn’t seem to be agreed with one of the club’s ‘senior’ players, Ashley Cole, who believes that even if his already on his 30s, the left back feels that he can play for at least three more years at the highest level.

“I don’t feel 30. We train with a lot of young players and they make you feel young. I feel good. I feel healthy and fit, so I hope to keep going for a few more years, though it’s hard to say how long. I do have a bad ankle and it’s not something which just goes away so I have to manage it and take it season by season. But if I look now and say how I feel, I know I’ve definitely got three years,” Cole said.

Looking at that statement, surely Cole believes that he can still contribute well for his club despite being considered as one of the “veterans” of the club who haven’t really been playing consistently well last season. Although, the former Arsenal player isn’t being put on the top list of Chelsea players that might be leaving the club, still the left back also gets a bit of consideration considering Abramovic’s ambition in building a stronger squad next season.

In other news, Cole himself actually support the introduction of more young players at the Blues squad starting from next season as the defender has high hopes for his teammates, Daniel Sturridge, who spend part of his season on loan at Bolton Wanderers. Sturridge’s success in netting eight goals from his 12 appearances with Bolton starting from the second part of the season, has encouraged Ashley Cole to believe that the young striker can provide the same thing for Chelsea next season.

“I saw Daniel Sturridge recently and look at what he has done at Bolton, “I knew what he could do. I’ve seen him in training and he’s honestly one of the hardest players I’ve ever had to mark. His movement is unreal. Hopefully when he comes back next season he’ll see more opportunities and bang goals in for us like he has done for Bolton,” Cole stated.
