City are proving to be a strong contender for the Premier League title this season and one player who has been instrumental in the Club’s unbeaten run and fantastic form is Yaya Toure.
Toure who joined City last summer after a misunderstanding with his former club FC Barcelona, has proved to be one of the club’s most important signings with the 28 year old defensive midfielder going on to become a key player in Mancini’s line up.
Very few teams that lead the league into the new year ever fail to win the league and by the look of things, City are not going to be any exception. In fact, Toure has admitted that wining the title this season would be amazing and incomparable to anything else.
During an interview with The Daily Mail, Toure said thaat he would go crazy if he won the Trophy, “We won the FA Cup last season and that was great. But the big target now is the Premier League. If I win the Premier League, I will go crazy.”
Toure also said that wining trophies with City cannot be compared to wining trophies with his former club Barcelona saying that the lack of strong opposition makes it easy for Barcelona to consistently challenge for titles.
“At Barcelona, it was sometimes so easy to play because we were a lot better than other teams so to play as a defender in the Champions League final was not as difficult as you might think,”
The good news, does not stop there for Toure as the midfielder is one of the 5 players shortlisted by BBC for the African Player of the Year award. The other 4 players contending are Samuel Eto’o, Gervinho, Andre Ayew and Syedou Keita.
The winner will be announced on January on December 16th in Ghana Accra and many expect it to be Yaya. At only 28, Toure still has a lot more to give and i expect him to become not only an important player for City, but also for his national side Ivory Coast once Didier Drogba retires .
