Manchester City‘s latest success in winning the FA Cup is being touted as the key aspect that could help the team in winning more trophies in the future, not only that, the club apparently expect that their recent achievement along with their success in getting into Champions League football could attract more super star players.
Revealed by City’s first team coach, David Platt, the Eastlands are apparently still eager to sign super star players in world football for next summer after already acquiring several top footballers in previous seasons especially last summer.
Having been rejected by several top super stars in the past, such as Ronaldinho, Kaka, Ibrahimovic and supposedly Danni Alves not long ago, Platt believes their current success can finally be an extra advantage they could get in tempting the stars to Eastlands. Platt believes that despite already having a quality side, getting world class super stars would make City much more better in the future since that kind of players would be decisive in winning matches.
“By winning something but perhaps more importantly by securing Champions League qualification, we will hopefully become more attractive to players. These are the kind of players that give us that next step up in quality,” Platt said. “Hopefully, we’ll manage to have a successful summer in terms of attracting some targets that we’ve got. We’ve got to make sure that we go for people that we feel can add quality and depth to the squad.”
Platt’s hope is something that would be interesting to see in the summer as although it’s well known that Man City are one of the clubs that have the strongest financial power in Europe, they usually lost out on getting several world class stars to teams with bigger status/credibility in European football. That condition is not a surprising thing since many players are looking for teams with great environment and also winning traditions, something that the Eastlands yet to have at the moment.
Potentially next summer, City would probably have the chance to get more high profile stars especially if they can finish on third position in the league which would give the Eastlands a ride to play in the Champions League group stage without qualification round. Aside from trophies, playing in important competition such as the Champions is also being known to be the thing that can attract super star players.
