Chelsea Target Cahill Demands £100,000 Weekly Wage

by Philip Mboya on January 6, 2012

Everyone has a price at For Bolton Wanderers defender Gary Cahill his is a £4 million signing on fee and a £100,000 every weekly wage if Chelsea wish to acquire his services.

Cahill has long been a Chelsea target however, his ‘over the top’ demands could scupper a potential move to the London club.  According to coach AVB, Cahill is greedy and that the they were ‘miles apart’ on the matter of personal terms.

Signing on fees are payments are usually chargeable to tax as employment income and in the case of Ca hill will the sum he receives from Chelsea for his transfer. Talk about a  hard bargain.

Apparently, Bolton had already agreed to a £7 million deal from Chelsea and had given Cahill the green light to commence talks with the blues. Cahill is currently on a £45,000 weekly wage and believes that his £100,000 weekly demands are reasonable seeing that he will be out of contract after 6 months.

According to Bolton manager Owen Coyle, Cahill’s future remains uncertain. Speaking after Wednesday’s win over Everton in which Cahill scored the winner, Coyle stated that it could have been Cahill’s last game.

“I don’t know if this will be Gary Cahill’s farewell. The clubs have agreed a fee. Gary’s representatives and Chelsea have only had one meeting about personal terms.” Coyle said.

Cahill’s demands are narrowing his pool of likely employers after both Tottenham who were willing to buy him at £13 million and Arsenal are no longer in the running for his signature.

Liverpool are thought to be ready to launch a rival bid for the England international, however, the only question is whether they have the funds to put their money where their mouth is.
