Chelsea Set Rangers Friendly Date, Extend Youngster Contract

Chelsea flag in the crowd at Stamford BridgeHaving just sacked their manager, Carlo Ancelotti and haven’t decide the replacement for the Italian doesn’t stop Chelsea from arranging their pre-season preparation as the Blues have scheduled another friendly game in the summer.

After confirming several dates against Vitesse Arnhem, Portsmouth along with Asia Tour, the London outfit have now added another date against Glasgow Rangers which will be staged at Ibrox Stadium on Saturday, August 6.

With that scheduled match against Rangers, so far the Blues have set themselves for a pretty hectic pre-season schedule as now there are already seven matches that the club will be participating from July 9. With the Premier League season set to start in mid August, there’s still a chance that Chelsea might be adding at least one more friendly match on that list as the London club are pretty much known for having quite a lot games in pre-season.

“Chelsea will travel north to take on Scottish champions Rangers in a pre-season fixture on Saturday 6 August,” read a press release on Chelsea’s site.

In other news, beside confirming a new pre-season date, Chelsea also revealed that they have just extended the contract of their young promising left back, Patrick van Aanholt on Monday, May 23. The new deal will make the youngster supposedly stay at the club for another 4-years, and look to be a sign of future trust for the youngster, who was being loaned out at Leicester City on January this year after making only three starts with the first team along with five sub appearances in the first half of the season.

“Left-back Patrick van Aanholt has today (Monday) signed a new four-year contract,” said a press release on Chelsea’s website.
