Finding difficulties in getting into Arsenal‘s first team line up apparently has frustrated Marouane Chamakh, who hinted at a potential departure from Emirates after the season ends.
The Moroccan international insisted that considering his age, getting regular playing is pretty much what he needed and should nothing changes by next summer, Chamakh will be considering his options.
The ex-Bordeaux striker isn’t that keen in moving this January despite having interesting offers, which already arrived from the start of the summer transfer market. It seems that the 27-years-old participation in the upcoming African cup might be the reason why he opted to stay at Arsenal as moving away means there will be less time in adapting to new surrounding and eventually could once again trouble his playing chances.
“I am 27 and I need to play. I cannot stay like this forever. I won’t leave in January but I will take an important decision in June. I was surprised by the offers I got last summer but my priority was to stay at Arsenal,” Chamakh said.
Chamakh actually had a good start in his debut career at Arsenal but things turned bleak for the Moroccan international in the second part of his first season at Emirates, where he started to see the bench more often. This season, so far he only collected 12 appearances with most of those coming from the substitute bench and only scoring once at the moment isn’t actually something that could get him a starting spot especially with Robin Van Persie hitting form with the Gunners.
