Premier League

News and commentary on the teams, manager and players of the English Premier League.

Manchester United‘s manager, Sir Alex Ferguson, doesn’t seem to believe that Manchester Roberto Mancini already gave up on chasing the premier league title and isn’t considering the upcoming derby as an important fixture.

Ferguson simply think that Mancini is just doing some mind game with the purpose to take the pressure away from City players and transferred them on United’s shoulders, a very common thing that usually happen during direct title battles.

Very interesting decision the Premier League has taken ahead of Sunday’s Premier League fixture between Chelsea and Queens Park Rangers. The Premier League has decided that there will be no pre-match hand shake due to the legal situation involving John Terry and Anton Ferdinand.

A statement on the its website read:

“The Premier League position on the pre-match handshake convention remains consistent. In all normal circumstances it must be observed,”

“However, after discussions with both Chelsea and Queens Park Rangers about the potential and specific legal context in relation to John Terry and Anton Ferdinand the decision has been taken to suspend the handshake convention for Sunday’s match.”

Preparing for the all important Manchester derby next Monday, Manchester City‘s manager, Roberto Mancini, once again tried to take away the pressure out of his players by playing down the importance of getting all three points.

Although it’s clear that winning the game means City would be taking Manchester United‘s place at the top of table, Mancini simply said that next Monday’s clash with United is just the same as previous Manchester derby.
