Manchester City moved three points clear at the top of the Premier League thanks to a convincing 3-0 win at home over Fulham.

Heading into the Fulham match a lot of questions were being asked about a City side that had lost four of their eight matches in 2012, exiting the FA and League Cups and seeing Manchester United draw level with them on points at the top of the Premier League.

According to the Daily Mirror on Sunday, Manchester City have rejected an offer from Liverpool to swap Carlos Tevez for Andy Carroll.

According to the exclusive in the newspaper, Liverpool approached Man City‘s Football Administration Officer Brian Marwood with the offer 48 hours ago, just hours after beating the Blues in the Carling Cup semi-final.

But City were not interested, as while they are desperate to offload Tevez, City boss Roberto Mancini reportedly has no interest in signing Andy Carroll.

Carlos Tevez Staying At Man City

by David on January 27, 2012

Carlos Tevez’s advisor, Kia Joorabchian is quoted in the English newspapers as saying that Tevez will not be sold in the January transfer window:

“We’ve been in negotiations with three big clubs but I don’t think they have reached the figures Manchester City want. Carlos will remain at Man City until the summer. They [City] would like to move him on but only at a certain price.”

Joorabchian was interviewed earlier today on TalkSport and said that Roberto Mancini’s handling of the situation is what caused the at situation to deteriorate the way it did:

Italian champions AC Milan have stated that they will be making a decision on signing Carlos Tevez today. Tevez who has been making headlines since he infamously snubbed Roberto Mancini’s request to come on as a substitute in their Champions League fixture against Bayern Munich last September, remains AWOL in his native Argentina.

The 27 year old striker has now taken to playing golf  as his agent Kia Joorabchian tries to finalise a deal to Milan with only days left until the transfer window closes. However, the problem remains City’s hard stance on Tevez’s buying price.

Combustible words from Mario Balotelli’s agent Mino Raiola after his client was banned for four games for his stamp on the head of Scott Parker at the weekend.

Raiola was just getting warmed up when he said that he will take his client away from the Premier League if referees do not do a better job of protecting Balotelli:

Roberto ManciniManchester City have officially went out from another competition, this time it’s the Carling Cup after Roberto Mancini’s side only managed to get a 2-2 draw against Liverpool in the competition’s second leg, while getting beaten 1-0 in the first meeting.

Mancini himself was very disappointed at that failure but once again he put the blame on refereeing decision instead of his team’s own performance, which the manager though already pleasing enough.

Manchester City striker Carlos Tevez has been found guilty of gross misconduct and fined six weeks’ wages after flying home to Argentina without permission, a club source told Reuters. Tevez has been in Argentina since November as his agents try and negotiate a move to AC Milan.

City have obviously had enough of Tevez’s antics and told Reuters:

“In response to speculation, the club confirms that Carlos Tevez was found guilty by a disciplinary hearing on 21 December of gross misconduct for serious breaches of contract and was fined six weeks’ wages,” the source said. “Carlos elected to appeal the finding, which was dismissed by an appeal panel made up of club directors. He has until 30th January to make a final appeal to the Premier League.”

City 0-1 LiverpoolMario Balotelli never seems to stop making the headline as despite being Manchester City savior in previous match against Tottenham Hotspurs, Balotelli caught himself involved in another case on that game.

The Italian striker was caught stamping Spurs‘ midfielder, Scott Parker, on Sunday and now are facing a disciplinary act by the English FA, who already confirmed their stance, only waiting for the forward to respons.

Balotelli charged by FA

by David on January 23, 2012

Manchester City striker Mario Balotelli is facing a four-match ban after being charged with violent conduct by the Football Association for his stamp on Scott Parker’s head during yesterday’s 3-2 win over Tottenham.

The FA statement read:

“The FA has today charged Manchester City forward Mario Balotelli with violent conduct following an incident in his side’s home game against Tottenham Hotspur. Balotelli was involved in an incident with Tottenham’s Scott Parker during Manchester City’s 3-2 victory at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday 22 January 2012,” the statement went on. “Balotelli has until 6pm on Wednesday 25 January 2012 to respond to the charge.”

Manchester 2 North London 0

by David on January 22, 2012

In the big two Sunday games in the Premier League, both Manchester City and Manchester United dealt big blows to North London rivals Spurs and Arsenal.

In the first game, Man City won a thrilling controversial 3-2 match thanks to Mario Balotelli’s injury-time penalty.

The controversy is whether Balotelli should have been on the field to score the penalty as he appeared to stamp on Scott Parker’s head. It will be interesting to see if the FA comes down and gives balotelli a three-game ban for the stamp, but that will not do Spurs any good as their title hopes ended today.
