I was shocked to hear the news this morning that Liverpool‘s director of football Damien Comolli has left the club by mutual consent.

Comolli was appointed by club co-owners John W. Henry and Tom Werner following their takeover of the club in September 2010.

At the time of his appointment, Comolli said his role was identifying transfer targets which means he was responsible for overseeing Dalglish’s £112.8m spending spree last year.

In a press release Comolli said:

After another less than impressive result for Liverpool on Saturday, the hangman’s noose is slowing tightening around Dalglish’s future with the club. Liverpool remain winless in their last 4 matches having lost 3 consecutively prior to yesterday’s draw.

Of course, as is the custom nowadays, Reds manager Kenny Dalglish blamed the referee for the result claiming that his were unfairly denied opportunities that could have changed the outcome of the game.

“I’ve never heard a penalty not be given by a referee saying that the boy [Kuyt] was unlucky,” he said after the match. “Suarez’s booking [for diving], the guy trod on him.

Chelsea once again managed to carry their positive European form back into the league as they picked up an important victory against Wigan Athletic on Saturday with a late goal from Juan Mata.

The match were once again a very tight one for the Blues but Mata’s goal in the final minute simply brought an important step for their fourth place spot ambition as they’re keeping pace with the teams above them.

Liverpool are in the midst of their worst run since the 1953-54 season, one that has Liverpool fans asking the unthinkable: ‘Is Kenny Dalglish’s job safe”.

The answer to that question might be answered in the next couple of week, and Kenny Dalglish will be hoping that Alexander Doni, who has not even completed a full friendly for Liverpool, can help get Liverpool into the FA Cup final.

The reason that Dalglish has to turn to Doni at such a crucial period of the season is because Pepe Reina will miss the next three games after his senseless red card against Newcastle at the weekend.

It should have been a dream return for Andy Carroll to St. Jame’s Park, instead it turned out to be a nightmare as Liverpool lost 2-0 to further complicate their chances of playing in Europe next season. Sunday’s loss makes it the third consecutive loss for Dalglish who is starting to feel the heat of the job.

Even worse, was Carroll’s reactions after being substituted. According to the Daily Mail, Andy Carroll was not amused with his dismissal from action in the 79th minute and reacted by storming off angrily while swearing to himself.

Tottenham Hotspur ended a five-match winless streak in the Premier League by beating Swansea City 3-1 at White Hart Lane, and as a result moved level on points with third-placed Arsenal.

Spurs took the lead on 19 minutes as Rafael van der Vaart converted a stylish, sidefooted effort from just outside the area after a sliding Ashley Williams had cut out Gareth Bale’s near-post cross.

But Swansea kept playing their impressive football and it was not a surprise when Gylfi Sigurdsson equalised on 59 minutes, however, hitting a bouncing volley into the bottom-left corner from the edge of the area following Wayne Routledge’s lay-off.

The writing is definitely on the wall for Liverpool Manager Kenny Dalglish. With two successive losses in their last two Premier League outings, the Reds, find themselves in 7th place with 42 points.

Uncertainty over Dalglish’s future is already raising speculation on a possible replacement. One man who is being considered for the job is former boss Rafa Benitez. Of course not too many Liverpool fans have welcomed this news, as many believe, he is the reason for most of their problems.

As if their current poor league results isn’t enough for Liverpool, another bad news could arrive regarding the condition of their midfielder, Charlie Adam, who could missed out the remaining of the season due to his injury.

Adam suffered a ligament injury during the Reds’ 3-2 defeat against Queens Park Rangers not long ago and many thinks that that game could be his last game of the season, but the club’s manager, Kenny Dalglish opted to wait for official confirmation before confirming anything.

Picking up another league defeat on the weekend against Wigan, Liverpool once again received strong criticism, simply because they have been having poor results in the league, getting beaten by relegation battlers in their last two matches.

Answering the criticism, Dalglish claimed that it’s a very harsh thing for the Reds, although the managed does admitted that they might have to change their playing style in order to improve their league form.

Manchester City regain lead in top of premier league this weekend but they could actually lose more ground with Manchester United should the Red Devils win their next league game against Fulham on Monday.

The Eastlands only managed to get a point against Stoke City on Saturday and although they are now on level points with United but obviously a victory for Sir Alex Ferguson side on Monday would make the gap becomes three point.
