Luis Suarez made his return from his eight-match suspension but their was no fairy tale ending as Liverpool and Spurs played to a goalless draw at Anfield.

Suarez started the game on the bench and he watched his teammates come flying out of the blocks with Gerrard slipping a delightful through ball to Andy Carroll only for Michael Dawson to make a goal-saving fifth-minute challenge. Parker’s reckless lunge on Glen Johnson a minute later presented Gerrard with a scoring opportunity from a free-kick, but it came to nothing and set the tone for a frustrating opening 45 minutes.

All eyes will be on the prematch handshake at Stamford Bridge on Sunday to see whether Rio Ferdinand will shake the hand of the person accused of racially abusing his brother.

Rio is said to be furious at the way the FA is standing besides John Terry despite his impending court case, while in contrast, he was banned for nine months but the FA for missing a drugs test.

Ferdinand took to Twitter on Thursday to show his displeasure writing:

“I feel insulted….woke up with a bad taste in my mouth….its a god damn joke!”

Man Utd vs Liverpool 22/10/2006Crashing out in the FA Cup against their bitter rival, Liverpool, obviously left a bitter taste for Manchester United especially since they were not actually outplayed in the match but lose out due to a defensive error.

The club’s manager, Sir Alex Ferguson, was the one who voived out his disappointment and disbeliefs with the Red Devils’ failure in advancing from the competition especially since the tactician believes that his team played better than their opponent.

According to the Daily Mirror on Sunday, Manchester City have rejected an offer from Liverpool to swap Carlos Tevez for Andy Carroll.

According to the exclusive in the newspaper, Liverpool approached Man City‘s Football Administration Officer Brian Marwood with the offer 48 hours ago, just hours after beating the Blues in the Carling Cup semi-final.

But City were not interested, as while they are desperate to offload Tevez, City boss Roberto Mancini reportedly has no interest in signing Andy Carroll.

Liverpool FC's Steven Gerrard faces the Chelsea FC crowd at Stamford BridgeHaving left a pretty bad mark in their latest meeting with Manchester United, Liverpool apparently wants their upcoming meeting against Sir Alex Ferguson’s side in the FA Cup returns as a memorable fixture in a footballing way.

This wish is being revealed by the Reds’ captain, Steven Gerrard, who felt that what happened in both clubs’ previous meeting have pretty much gave more negative aspect towards his team which is obviously not related with football.

Roberto ManciniManchester City have officially went out from another competition, this time it’s the Carling Cup after Roberto Mancini’s side only managed to get a 2-2 draw against Liverpool in the competition’s second leg, while getting beaten 1-0 in the first meeting.

Mancini himself was very disappointed at that failure but once again he put the blame on refereeing decision instead of his team’s own performance, which the manager though already pleasing enough.

Seleção no CT do CorinthiansHaving already confirmed to miss out the whole season due to a serious knee injury, Lucas Leiva decided to return back in England for his rehabilitation process, leaving Brazil where he previously received treatment.

Lucas revealed that his recovery process is right on schedule and getting back to Liverpool would be much better for him since he can stay close with his teammates and also fans, who have been very supportive during his tough times.

King KennyLiverpool‘s 3-1 defeat over Bolton Wanderers, apparently gave more than just disappointment for the club’s manager, Kenny Dalglish, as he was also infuriated with his player’s poor performance and threatened to get rid of those who can’t improve their performance.

Dalglish was so furious that he doesn’t really want to give much credit for his opponent as he really felt that it was the Reds’ poor performance which cause that defeat.

Manchester CityShortly after facing a home defeat against their city rival Manchester United in the FA Cup, another disappointing episode arrived for Manchester City as they suffered a similar outcome in the Carling Cup against Liverpool on Wednesday.

This second defeat in a row obviously stunned the Eastlands, but coach Roberto Mancini remains positive with his team’s strength as he even believed that his team can reverse the result in the second leg.

Luis Suarez Apologizes (Sort Of)

by David on January 5, 2012

Liverpool striker Luis Suarez has issued a like warm apology at best for racially abusing Patrice Evra, but he pointedly has not apologised directly Evra.

“I admitted to the commission that I said a word in Spanish once, and only once” said Suarez. “I never, ever used this word in a derogatory way and if it offends anyone then I want to apologise for that. I told the panel members that I will not use it again on a football pitch in England.”

Suarez’s apology directly contradicts the independent Football Association commission report which stated that Suarez had used the term “negro” seven times in around two minutes.
