Manchester United proved that the heavy defeat on the Derby have slowly been forgotten as after getting a win in the Carling Cup, Sir Alex Ferguson, successfully beaten Everton at Goodison Park thanks to Javier “Chicarito” Hernandez’s goal.
Meanwhile, Chelsea gets even further from chasing the second place position after Andre Villas Boas’ team surprisingly crumbled in the hands of Arsenal despite playing at Stamford Bridge.

However, that 18 does not include Under-21 players, so the likes of Ross Barkley do not feature but are still eligible to play as clubs can use an unlimited number of younger-age players.
The Toffees were the least active in the summer transfer window, bringing in only Royston Drenthe and Denis Stracqualursi on loan on deadline day as Mikel Arteta, Ayegbeni Yakubu and Jermaine Beckford all departed.

It wasn’t all smooth sailing for Liverpool though as Raul Meireles went off injured, inside the first quarter of the game, clutching his shoulder after coming off worse in a challenge with Danny Coles.
Tottenham‘s Premier League match with Everton on Saturday has been postponed because of the riots in London.
Premier League chief executive Richard Scudamore said he was “positive” the other nine games in the opening round of top-flight fixtures would go ahead. And prime minister David Cameron suggested they could kick off earlier than scheduled to assist the police.
“Other games in London should go ahead, but perhaps starting earlier in the day,” said Cameron, adding that it was up to “the Premier League and the police” to make the decision.
Being marked as a potential young talent for the last couple of seasons, Everton‘s Jack Rodwell, is eager to improve that status and become one of the Toffees’ regular starters for the upcoming season.
Although he is still reaching the age of 20, Rodwell believes the time is set now for him to take another step in becoming a much more important act for his club, who can provide good consistent performances.
The Premier League unveiled it 2011-12 fixture list and champions Manchester United will start the defence of their Premier League title with a trip to West Brom on 13 August.
Arsenal begin with a match at Newcastle, while Chelsea, last season’s runners-up, travel to Stoke and Liverpool host Sunderland.
Swansea‘s first Premier League match is at Manchester City, while QPR open with a home clash against Bolton. Norwich, back in the top flight after six years, travel to Wigan.
Elsewhere on the opening day, Tottenham and Everton meet at White Hart Lane, Fulham and Aston Villa face each other at Craven Cottage, while Blackburn host Wolves.
