According to The Sun, Sours boss Harry Redknapp wants to unite Man City‘s wantaway striker with on-loan City star Emmanuel Adebayor at White Hart Lane.
A source close to the talks is quoted as saying:
“People at Tottenham reckon a deal like this could be bigger than anything since they signed Jurgen Klinsmann. There’s definite interest. The big stumbling block could be whether or not City are prepared to do business with a team now regarded as one of their rivals for the title.”
Tevez has been linked heavily with a move to AC Milan, but the Italian champions want to take Tevez on loan for the rest of the season, and then buy him. But City boss Roberto Mancini is adamant only a permanent deal will do.
One potential stumbling block to a move to Spurs is that Tevez is currently on wages of £198,000-a-week, which would shatter Spurs’ pay structure.
But the insider told the Sun:
There are some who reckon Tevez signing would pretty much guarantee Champions League football and that it would be worth the investment.”
Harry obviously figures that his man management skills will keep Tevez in line, while the knockdown fee of £20m is very cheap for a world class striker like Tevez.
All along Tevez has said that his family doesn’t like it in England and that is why he wants to go to Italy or Spain. London is still part of England, so I don’t see how a move to Spurs will solve Tevez’s domestic problems.
