Blackpool Turn Down Charlie Adam’s Transfer Request

by David on January 24, 2011

Blackpool TowerBlackpool have turned down a written transfer request today from their captain Charlie Adam.

Adam’s agent Kenny Moyes earlier confirmed that “Charlie has handed in a transfer request”, but Blackpool boss Holloway later revealed chairman Karl Oyston had rejected it.
“The decision to reject the transfer request was the chairman’s decision,” he said.

Adam has been the target of Aston Villa, Birmingham and Liverpool this month and Blackpool turned down a £4million bid from Liverpool for the player on Friday.

Holloway, whose side are only seven points above West Ham in table would like to keep Adams until the end of the season is a bid to ensure Premier League survival for another season. Adam on the other hand probably thinks that he might never get another chance to join a club like Liverpool and he does not want to miss out on an opportunity that might not be there in the summer.

Adam is in the Blackpool squad for the game against Manchester United tomorrow and it will be interesting to see what sort of reaction he gets from the Bloomfield faithful.
