Balotelli Sets House On Fire

by Philip Mboya on October 23, 2011

If you like firecrackers then you will definitely like the Festival of lights or Diwali as it is better known. Now i don’t really know much about Diwali other than the fact that i get to not only watch but also participate in lighting up the sky with fireworks whenever i want, something that would otherwise land me in jail on any other day.

Of course, there are dangers to operating any fire apparatus and this became very clear to Manchester City striker Mario Balotelli who had to escape from his home early yesterday morning after fireworks set fire to his bathroom.

British daily The Guardian reports that Balotelli was able to leave his house uninjured minutes before 1 am Saturday morning. This news comes just hours before City prepare to play the biggest game of their EPL season today when they host Manchester United at the Stadium of Manchester.

This latest incident has re-ignited the debate on the Italians behaviour and characher. Only a few days ago, fellow team mate Nigel De Jong came to the defense of Balotelli saying that Balotelli had matured and that the 21 year old had started showing signs of a mature behaviour.

There has been no official word from Balotelli on the matter but many believe that this will be a big talk point should city lose or come away from the match with a negative result.

A police spokeswoman who was at the site claimed that the investigations are still progressing and that the matter will not be treated as suspicious.

“At this time, the cause of the fire is being examined by fire investigators and the police. However, it is not thought to be suspicious.”

However, the fire crew released a statement saying that a firework had caused the fire.

“Crews managed to put the fire out within half an hour of arriving but remained at the scene until 2:45 a.m. to prevent any possible flare-ups. Smoke alarms were fitted at the property and the occupiers were able to get out unharmed. The fire was caused by a firework.”

So once again Balotelli makes the headlines for another negative reason. The question may people ask is when will they be able to hear something good about Balotelli.
