Having a rather sweet ending to the season doesn’t really denied the fact that Everton did had a tough start in the season and spend some time battling for relegation before finishing in the top seven place in the premier league.
Expecting a better result next season right from the start, the Toffees’ star, Leighton Baines, hopes that his team will be able to sign some more quality addition that could help the club in achieving bigger target.
Although Baines expected some new signings, the left back admitted that he doesn’t know much about who will be the ones the management are aiming to take in the summer, as the defender stated that he is focusing his mind in enjoying the time off. However, the England international did stated that he is liking the recent rumors linking his team with famous names in the football world such as Bayern Munich’s striker, Miroslav Klose, who has just been released by his club.
“We’re never sure where we’re at. As players we know just about as much as you and anyone else. We hear things and just wait and see who comes through the door. It is nice and I think it’s a bit of fun for the fans in the summer when we get linked with all these names,” Baines said. “But as players we tend not to get sucked into it all too much. We just go away, enjoy the summer, come back for pre-season and hope a few good faces do come through the door.”
Being Everton’s player of the season, surely Baines expected that his club would get important players in the summer, so the Toffees could at least challenge for an European football spot next season. Having plenty admirers from other teams, surely the left back could always consider about his future as playing in important competition in Europe such as the Champions League or at least Europa League would always be something that any professional footballers look for in his career.
