Back On Winning Ways, Chelsea Focus On Snapping David Luis

by Dewa Nugraha on January 25, 2011

La scritta e il luogo fuori dallo stadioChelsea‘s big win against Bolton Wanderers last Monday give a much more valid prove that the Blues are finally getting back into their old self, with the striking department start to click their engine once again the other part of the team looked more secured.

However, aside from applauding the improvement that his squad are making, the club’s tactician, Carlo Ancelotti, still plan to add the defensive reinforcement he has been planning since the winter and the tactician confirmed that David Luiz is their new target.

We look like we are turning the corner. I think we played good football with a good attitude and mentality. We are coming back to fight for everything. It is not easy to close the gap, but we have to try,” Ancelotti said,

Meanwhile, speaking more about their plan to sign Benfica’s David Luiz, Ancelotti revealed that although negotiation is very difficult but the Blues won’t give up anything without making a big effort. The tactician also believe that should they manage to sign the defender, the Brazilian international will be the only purchase that Chelsea will be making this winter as they don’t really have any other problematic issues in other positions.

“Now [Luiz] is the only signing we will try to do but we will have to wait and see. “I think that we are trying to find a solution, he [David Luiz] is a good player, a very good player, younger, and now we have to wait and see,” Ancelotti talked about Luiz. “We have not agreed again, we will try but if it is not possible nothing will change.”

Although Luiz’s signing is indeed an interesting prospect for Chelsea considering the talent that the Brazilian possessed, his arrival seemed a little bit odd considering the fact that the player will be cup tied in Europe and can only play in local competition. This mean they will still need to count on their current first team back line in Europe with Luiz beind made as the one picked for league games only and probably giving some rest for either John Terry or Alex at center back.

Surely Luiz’s signing can also mean that Chelsea now believes that they can still fight for the title despite already seven points behind the current league leader, Manchester United, that still have one game in hand. In theory it would be a difficult task for the Blues especially if United still continues their wonderful undefeated run in the league which keep making their confidence flying high, however one slump could really turned the story again.
