Some good news or bad (depending on how you take it) for all Arsenal fans. Brazilian midfielder Denilson is expected back at the club in the summer after a deal to extend his loan spell with Sao Paolo fell through.

The 24 year old’s career with Arsenal seemed o be over however, after failing to reach an agreement with Sao Paolo, Denilson is expected back in London ahead of the 2012/2013 season.

Speaking to reporters, Denilson revealed that break down in talks with Sao Paolo will see him return to the Arsenal.

Chelsea‘s epic performance against Barcelona last night is a result i am sure will be talked about for weeks even years to come. The Blues finally broke their duck against a Barcelona side that won more titles in their last 3 years than Chelsea have in the last decade.

The man of the moment however, was their £50 million signing Fernando Torres. The Spaniard came off the bench with 10 minutes left to play to score the goal that sent the Blues to only their second Champions League final.

Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini has been assured that he will not be replaced at the end of the season whether he leads his side to the Premier League title or not. City owner Sheikh Mansour said this during an interview with Abhu Dhabi TV.

“The difference is three points and we do have a chance [to win the title],” Mansour said.

“but whatever happens, and even if we don’t win, I am very happy and satisfied with the players, the team and the management.

“They have performed very well and have improved in their last few matches.”

Tomorrow night’s return leg Champions League semi final fixture against Barcelona at the Nou Camp won’t be a walk in the park for Interim coach Roberto Di Matteo.

Despite having a slight advantage over the Catalans, Di Matteo believes that his ageing stars have what it takes to deny Barcelona a chance to defend their title.

“The demands are crazy, physically and mentally,’’ Di Matteo said. “We’ve got a lot of experienced players and that helps us come through games.

Arsenal captain Robin Van Persie was yesterday named the PFA Player of the Year after an amazing 12 months that has seen him break and establish new records with the Gunners.

Van Persie pipped Manchester players Wayne Rooney, Sergio Aguero, David Silva and Joe Hart to win the award. The 28 year old striker is currently the league’s top scorer with 27 goals.

Manchester United missed the chance to extend their lead atop the Premier League table Sunday after they were held to a 4-4 draw at home by Everton. The Red Devils seemed to be costing to a famous 4-2 victory until two quick goals from Nikica Jelavic and Steven Pienaar rescued a dramatic point for Everton with only minutes left in the game.

United could have scored the winner in the 95th minute however, Tim Howard pulled off a phenomenal save to deny Rio Ferdinand what could have been the winner.

Tottenham coach Harry Redknapp has received major support from one of the FA’s board members to be selected as the next England manager. Redknapp who has been among the front runners to replace Fabio Capello who was sacked in February.

Speaking to the BBC, Phil Gartside, revealed that Redknapp would be the ideal person to lead the Three Lions to the Euro 2012 finals. Redknapp who previously stated that he would like to coach England as some point in his career, has however in recent weeks remain very silent about his future with Tottenham.

LA Galaxy’s English  midfielder David Beckham can still make his dream of playing for his national side in the Olympics a reality after he was named as part of caretaker coach Stuart Pearce’s 80 man shortlist for the tournament.

Beckahm who scored a stunner against the Portland Timber in LA’s 3-1 win is joined by Lille forward Joe Cole, Tottenham‘s Gareth Bale and Liverpool‘s Craig Bellamy.

Barcelona midfielder Cesc Fabregas believes that despite Chelsea‘s current inconsistent form, the Blues still remain a very difficult opponent to beat. Speaking during the pre-match press conference, Fabregas maintained that Barca’s defense will have to be in top form if they are to stop Chelsea’s counter attacks.

“The game will be difficult. In recent games against Chelsea when I was at Arsenal and now with Barca, even though we kept possession it’s hard to play against them. They counter very easily and Didier Drogba can score against you. So you have to be careful and aware of the threat they pose on the counter-attack.”

Amazing how Tom Ovrebo has suddenly decided to speak out after more than 3 years on the controversial ruling that cost Chelsea a place in the 2009 Champions League finals in Rome.

The Norwegian who still claims to get death threats to this day (doesn’t surprise me), now admits that had he to do it over again, he would probably do things differently.

Of course, this would be helpful and appropriate had it come three years earlier, however, despite it still being hard for many fans to take they can look forward to  tonight’s fixture with expectation and the hope that history will not repeat itself.
