Chelsea‘s plan to rejuvenate the team may also filled with the addition of another defender, despite already signing David Luiz in the summer, as one of their transfer target, Diego Godin, has open the door for a move to Stamford Bridge.
The Uruguayan international revealed that playing at the Blues with definitely be a step forward in his career as at the moment Roman Abramovic’s team are certainly bigger than Atletico Madrid or his former club, Villareal.
Godin himself also revealed that he could actually joined Chelsea already last January as the Blues already made an offer towards the defender’s team, Atletico, but at that time the deal wasn’t possible because the Spanish team have already sold other players. That decision forced the Uruguayan international to stay in Spain until the season ends and this summer should there’s another concrete offer again from the London club, the center back won’t be hesitated to pounce.
In January, Atletico received an offer but the transfer did not happen. They had already sold other players and did not want to weaken the team further then. For Chelsea to still be interested in having me is an honour and means I must be playing well. Who would not want to play there? To do so would be a step up,” Godin told the Daily Mirror.
Godin first catch the eye of several clubs when he was still playing at Villareal and a move to Atletico alongside his wonderful performance in the World Cup had the player’s status become more popular especially among big clubs across Europe. With the strong ambition that the player have, there’s definitely a chance for any team, especially Chelsea to get his signature on the summer, considering the player is eager to take another step in his career.
