Atletico Madrid Turn Down £52m From Chelsea

Atletico Madrid have turned down a £52 million double bid from Chelsea for Sergio Aguero and Diego Godin according to Atletico president Miguel Angel Gil.

Real Madrid were also after Aguero while Chelsea were the sole bidders for Uruguay defending Godin.

“In the last week we have received two offers,” he told the club’s website. “One from Real for Aguero for 45 million euros and the other from Chelsea for Aguero and (Uruguay defender) Diego Godin for 60 million (£52m). Atletico have said no to the two offers because they believe in these two players.”

Sergio Aguero is a 22-year old forward from Argentina. He has scored 16 goals and has 5 assist with Atletico this season. Last season he had 17 goals and in 2008/9 he had 25 goals. So he is a proven goalscorer. he has 7 goals and 2 assists. He is not afraid to shoot, but 59 shots in those 15 games.

Diego Godin on the other is a 24-year old defender who joined Atletico from Villarreal this past summer. He played in five games for Uruguay in this past summer’s World Cup. He is known as a fast and composed defender, he combines physical presence with a confidence on the ball.
