Losing the likes of Ashley Young and Stuart Downing already in this summer transfer window, Aston Villa are finally looking close to cover their loss after reports revealed that they are in the verge of signing Wigan Athletic’s Charles N’Zogbia.
The club themselves confirmed that an agreement with Wigan have been reached and now the Villans only need to conclude personal deal with N’Zogbia before the player can be unveiled as Villa’s new player.
“The club are pleased to confirm that we have agreed a fee with Wigan for French international winger Charles N’Zogbia. We will now discuss personal terms with the player and arrange a medical, with a view to completing the transfer later this week,” read an official statement by Aston Villa.
Reports revealed that the Villans needs to splash around 9,5 million pound in order to convince Wigan in agreeing the deal for N’Zogbia, who is considered as one of the Latics’ important players last season. Should the personal agreement can be reached, N’Zogbia will be Villa’s second signing this season under the new manager, Alex McLeish, who reportedly is the one who really wanted to have the French winger at Villa park this summer especially after losing Young and Downing.
N’Zogbia’s characteristic certainly will suit the role that was left by both Downing and Young which means that the hole that has been created with the two players’ departure can be covered. McLeish’s excitement with the potential singing of the former French under-21 player’s is seen on the manager’s eagerness in concluding the deal as soon as possible.
“He(N’Zogbia) is an exciting player and someone I’ve admired for quite a while. I’m pleased we’ve managed to agree a fee and hope we can reach agreement with Charles as soon as possible,” McLeish said.
Should the agreement is reached, N’Zogbia reportedly won’t immediately join his teammates as they are currently holding a tour in Asia, so considering getting the visa won’t be an easy task, the 25-years-old will be staying at Villa’s training complex instead. Normally, a personal agreement won’t be that difficult to conclude especially if the player is keen on leaving his previous team, so it looks like McLeish eagerness’ will be redeem soon.
