Half-time substitute Ashley Young was England‘s match-winner in an entertaining friendly with Denmark.
In what was a lively opening in Copenhagen, Nicklas Bendtner shot wide for the hosts and Wayne Rooney had an effort blocked on the line by Mathias Jorgensen before Daniel Agger opened scoring after seven minutes, when her headed in Christian Eriksen’s right-wing cross.
Denmark’s lead lasted all of two minutes when Darren Bent equalised, tapping in Theo Walcott’s low ball across goal.
England, though, were lucky not to go into half-time behind when Eriksen’s shot hit the post.
The second half continued in a similarly open vein, Bent’s header impressively kept out at point-blank range by Sorensen and Dennis Rommedahl drawing a smart save from Hart following some sharp build-up play by Morten Olsen’s team.
The winner came in the 68th minute when Glen Johnson dispossessed Michael Krohn-Dehli, burst forward and played in Ashley Young, who kept his composure to score his first goal for England.
Not a bad for Aston Villa fans
