Being heralded as one of the new signings that will give significant boost to Arsenal this season, Mikel Arteta, is hoping that he can answer the challenge by hoping to make a quick adaptation with his new teammates and system that Arsene Wenger creates.
The former Everton star player is very excited about the chance to play with the Gunners and is currently doing his best to catch up with his old teammates to get the understanding immediately in place considering Arsenal is not actually in a good condition at the moment.
“Hopefully I will not take long to adapt but obviously you need to meet new characters, new personalities and new players with different abilities so you need to pick that up as soon as possible to get an understanding on the pitch,” Arteta revealed. “But I have been watching a few videos and have got some work done before training and hopefully that will help me.”
Moreover, Arteta also voiced out his wish to immediately step on the pitch wearing the Gunners’ jersey as he has been a keen admirer of Arsene Wenger’s boys’ playing style, who are pretty much considered as having the best style in England for quite sometime. The Spaniard also looking forward to make his debut at Emirates stadium in front of his new supporters, which might definitely arrives this weekend as Arsenal will play their next league game at home.
“I can’t wait to start playing. I can’t wait to play at the Emirates, I think it’s an unbelievable stadium. I’m so excited. I have always been a big admirer of the Arsenal philosophy, the way they play, the way they do the job, and it’s always exciting watching Arsenal play. In England there is no better team to watch than Arsenal,” Arteta added.
Although some minor voices considered Arteta could very well be one of Wenger’s panic buying in this summer market since it happened right after the 8-2 demolishing against Manchester United, the Spaniard’s arrival is nevertheless an important one especially since the long injury for Jack Wilshere. After the departure of Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri, Arsenal obviously needs a much more experienced player to run the show in the midfield as Wilshere is still out and Aaron Ramsey isn’t consistent enough at the moment to become the main actor in London’s club playing core.
Although Arteta’s performance has somewhat regressed a bit due to the long term injury his having, the player is still being considered as one of the best midfielder in the league at the moment, not to mention an experienced one considering he is already 29. Obviously, now would be the main test for Arteta to finally take a step up in his career by leading his younger teammates to stabilize the Gunners’ midfield and help the team grow the confidence again after a poor start in the league.
