Arsenal’s Move For Hazard Gets A Rejection

by Dewa Nugraha on August 24, 2011

Eden Hazard, OSC Lille 2010/11Arsene Wenger’s hope in reinforcing his Arsenal squad with some top names in the market doesn’t look promising as one of the Frech tactician’s target, Eden Hazard, looks to be a difficult purchase since the player’s current club, Lille, isn’t keen on selling the young prodigy.

The French champion’s boss, Frederic Paquet, stated that Hazard isn’t going anywhere including to Emirates this summer since the club have already released some important players, especially Gervinho, who was also bought by Wenger earlier this month.

Paquet reveals that the club wants to keep Hazard around for at least another season as they do have a good project going on, not to mention they definitely want to compete in the Champions League this season. Surely selling to many important players wouldn’t do much good for their European Campaign and also ambition to retain the Ligue 1 title once again this season, and the Belgium wonder kid supposedly is being set as the main actor in achieving those targets.

“Eden will not be leaving this season. We are aware of interest from some of the biggest clubs in Europe but we are not prepared to sell. He is very happy here; he understands our project and wants to stay for at least another year,” Paquet stated.

This rejection certainly gave a headache for Wenger, who obviously in much more dire needs of additional quality signings after the departure of Cesc Fabregas and soon Samir Nasri, who were two important players for the Gunners. Hazard, is one of the talents that Arsenal’s tactician have admittedly eying on for quite a while, obviously the 20-years-old is still considered too young to be given a tough responsibilities in replacing Fabregas and Nasri.

Earlier reports suggested that Hazard is being tagger around 30 million Euro, which is a pretty huge number for a 20-years-old, who still needs more experienced in leading the line for top clubs. Moreover, Wenger himself usually isn’t keen on paying too much money over a player, which could also be a stumbling block that denied the Belgium international’s move to the Gunners’ although the French tactician is currently under pressure and could actually splashed silly amounts in the market this summer.
