Arsenal To Add More Physical Attributes Next Summer

by Dewa Nugraha on June 3, 2011

Highbury StadiumArsenal‘s failure in winning anything this season despite being very close in getting at least the Premier League title in the end, make the club’s coach, Arsene Wenger, plans to improve the squad next summer.

Revealing more into the characteristic of new players that the Gunners are looking for, Wenger stated that they are going more physical next season by targeting taller players that could physically helped them in dealing with some teams in the future.

“We need to improve the size of our squad, We need a bigger variety in the height of our players. We need to be more capable of fighting against some characteristics than we have been this season,” said Wenger.

The coach’s indication shows that they are trying to fix some aspect in the Gunners’ game, so that they can get more consistent result against any teams in the league, especially those who can maximize their physical advantages against Arsenal. Wenger also added that aside from those addition there doesn’t seem to be much more needed tweaking in building a squad that can win the league as this season, the Frenchman believes that his team already got 95% things working in the right direction, despite in the end his team only finished fourth in the table.

“We get it 95% right, but we must gain that 5% because it’s so frustrating to flirt with success like we have done, and the fans are unhappy that we didn’t win the league, but we are close,” Wenger added.

Having several of their important players such as Cesc Fabregas, Samir Nasri, Gael Clichy, reportedly being closely considering a move away from the Gunners, it would be interesting to see what will Wenger plan to do next summer. Surely, should some of those important named do leave the club, Arsenal will be forced to search for a replacement instead of just searching for the 5% element that supposedly would make them complete.
