Arsenal Puts Faith On Aaron Ramsey As Fabregas’ Heir

by Dewa Nugraha on August 18, 2011

Emirates Cup 2009: RamseyThe departure of Cesc Fabregas surely gives a significant effect on Arsenal especially on the technical level but the Gunners’ players aren’t set to be all gloomy as they believe that the new Barcelona player can be replaced at Emirates.

Among few candidates, many believes that Aaron Ramsey, could be the one that might step up this season as it was revealed by the London club’s right back, Bacary Sagna, who is simply convinced by Ramsey’s potential.

“Cesc is a great player. He was one of our best players but that’s part of football.Every season we start a season and some players leave at the end of it. That’s what happens and I just want to wish him good luck. I will miss him of course but Aaron Ramsey did very well and he will show he is a great player as well,” Sagna said.

Ramsey, who last season only picked several games with Arsenal because only just recovering from a long term injury the season before, did managed to show glimpse of his potential in influencing the game from the midfield area especially in the Champions League game against Udinese on Tuesday. The Wales international player gave a lovely assist the set up the Gunners’ only goal scored by Theo Walcott on that day, along with his ability to pull the strings in the midfield, there’s definitely something true from what Sagna said.

Surely the task will get even harder from now own especially if Samir Nasri follows Fabregas’ path in leaving the club as it would definitely mean Ramsey will be someone hoped to lead the midfield along with another youngster Jack Wilshere. Definitely a tough task for the Welshman especially if there’s pressure from fans who are very eager in seeing trophies filling the club’s cabinets again after such a long drought.

The advantage that Ramsey can achieve in the current condition would be the fact that he will have plenty regular playing time which should mature him faster than if he only play small parts in Arsenal’s season. However, the pressure remains high especially if Arsene Wenger isn’t looking for an experienced name in the market to help lead the Gunners and ease up the burden of the youngsters such as Ramsey. In the end, everything also depends on how the Welshman took up his chance this season, should he managed to overcome the mental hurdles, he might just have a break out season.
