Arsenal Confirm Gibbs and Jenkinson’s Injuries

by Dewa Nugraha on November 18, 2011

Kieran GibbsArsenal‘s performance might be rising at the moment, but injury problems still hasn’t flee from the Emirates’ cloud as the club’s coach, Arsene Wenger, has just confirmed that Kieran Gibbs, will be absent for around 4-5 weeks because of Hernia problem.

The injury prone full back, already got operated on Thursday, so he will be needing that pretty long rest before being able to return on the pitch again with his teammates.

“At first he had an abdominal strain, certainly caused by the fact that he had a hernia already. When the strain was healed we discovered that he had a hernia. We had a fear that could be behind it so we decided to do the surgery,” Wenger said.

Gibbs’ injury is not the only defensive issues that troubled Wenger for Arsenal’s upcoming match as the tactician also confirmed that another full back, Carl Jenkinson will also be missing in action for this weekend. According to the French manager, Jenkinson is suffering a back problem which forced the club to rest him for the time being as forcing to play the player might resulted into a much more worse condition.

Fortunately aside from those two players and also the already injured ones such as Jack Willshere, other Gunners players are not having any problems and ready to play this weekend. This news is obviously pretty positive for the London outfit who are working to get their position back in the top four challenge after slipping into the bottom halves in the early part of the season.

We have had some bad news because we have lost two full-backs over the break but apart from that all the players came back in good shape and everybody is available,” Wenger added. “Carl has a stress fracture in his back. That’s just about rest now. We discovered that because he had a pain in his back.We found a small stress fracture that we noticed at an early stage. If he continued to play it could have got worse and then he could be out for a long time. So at the moment the specialist has decided to rest him.”
