Arsenal Being Patient Over Van Persie’s Contract Renewal

by Dewa Nugraha on November 12, 2011

Robin Van PersieArsenal‘s management have to slow down their strong intention in immediately ensure Robin Van Persie’s future with the Gunners as the player reportedly refusing to talk about contract at the current time.

Acknowledging the situation, the London club’s chairman, Peter Hill-Wood, finally opting to pend all the planned negotiation until the end of season as that might be the right moment to approach the Dutch international forward.

Van Persie’s contract actually won’t be ending until the summer of 2013 but by the end of next season, the Gunners could be forced to sell the player especially if the Dutchman won’t extend his deal as he could easily leave for free when his contract ends. That situation is what Arsenal trying to avoid as at least if the former Feyenoord player decides to leave, the London club could asked for a pretty huge amount of cash.

Although Van Persie’s rejection in discussing his contract renewal for the moment could show signs of the player’s hesitation in staying with Arsenal, Hill-Wood believes that it won’t happen since the chairman believes the Dutchman is happy in London. The Gunners’ management is very confident that in the end, the Dutch international will eventually extend his stay at Emirates especially since he is already being handed the captain armband.

He doesn’t want to talk about it at the moment and we are not troubling him. I think we will approach him near the end of the season. But we obviously hope that he will sign a new contract – I don’t see why he should not. I can’t believe he is unhappy with us,” Peter Hill-Wood stated.

Despite Hill-Wood confidence in keeping Van Persie, there’s obviously an air of worries as Van Persie might actually think over his future at Emirates if Arsenal’s achievement by the end of season didn’t convince the Dutchman. The departure of Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri this summer, surely provides every doubts towards any Gunners fans regarding the future of their stars mainly Van Persie, who have been performing really well in this start of the season.
