Kenny Dalglish’s plan in trying to keep Alberto Aquilani at Anfield for the new season seems to be an utopia as the latest reports suggested that the player is very close in making another return to Italy, in another potential loan move to Fiorentina with permanent buy-out clause for the next season.
This indication was revealed by the player’s agent, Franco Zavaglia, who suggested that an agreement between the Reds and the Viola has been reached, although personal deal is yet to be finalized.
“If people are talking of a deal then that may have been only finalised between the two clubs. An agreement between Fiorentina and Aquilani still hasn’t been reached. We haven’t agreed personal terms. “Fiorentina haven’t come to a decision with regard to us,” Zavaglia said.
It’s believed that wages issue is still the major stumbling block between Aquilani and Fiorentina at the moment as there’s a quite huge gap between the Florence’s side capability and what the player’s currently earning. However, the Italian media believes that the midfielder’s strong desire in continue playing in Serie A, could finally be the reason that would make things finalized in the end.
Should Aquilani really leaves Liverpool again, many fans might actually be disappointed as despite not being able to impress much in his first season at Anfield due to injury, the Italian is pretty well liked by the supporters because of his footballing skills. Moreover, the ex-Roma player’s fine display during the Reds pre-season tour, has once again stole the fans’ affection, not to mention the club’s management are also keen on keeping the Italian international.
Unfortunately, playing in Italy seems to be something that Aquilani is really keen on at the moment as it was seen from his disappointment when Juventus decided not to buy him out this summer, despite the midfielder played pretty well at the Turin club. Now, although Fiorentina’s current condition is not as convincing as the Bianconeri, it seems that the Italian international won’t mind playing at Firenze as the club is still considered as one of few ‘traditional’ big teams in Italy.
