Anelka Denies Quitting Reports

by PhilipMboya1 on November 24, 2011

Chelsea seem to have lost all direction as was evident when they suffered their 3rd consecutive loss last night. The Blues have now lost 4of their last 5 games and the future is not only looking bleak for Villas-Boas, but also for a number of the club’s stars.

Reports now emerging from London suggest that Anelka is thinking about leaving the club in the January transfer window. The striker who has struggled to fit into to Coach Villas-Boas plans is thought to be fed up with playing second fiddle to struggling Spanish striker Fernando Torres.

However, Anelka has maintained that the reports are untrue and that he is still a Chelsea player.

“I love playing here. Chelsea has been the best part of my career and it’s been great playing and winning with terrific guys like Didier Drogba, John Terry, Frank Lampard and Florent Malouda.

“I was hoping to win another league title this season with Chelsea, but now apparently it is not to be.”

Apparently,Anelka has come out to clear the air concerning rumours of an interview he did with an English paper.

“Following the quotations attributed to me in an English newspaper, I’d like to categorically deny having given any interview, let alone spoken about my future,”  Anelka was quoted by AFP.

With tensions at the bridge rising each day , it will be exciting to see how the Blues recover from their latest setback. Chelsea lie 3rd in Group E and must beat Valencia at home in their final Group game if they are to move onto the next round.

Meanwhile coach Villas-Boas put up a brave face maintaining that the Blues recover.

“We are all committed to this squad and these players, we believe in their talent and we have to fight our way out,” he said.

It’s my job now to inspire the players and motivate them.

“The work we have been doing is good, the talent of these players is immense, the responsibility is mine.

“We have two games now at home and we have to get the focus and motivation right and we need our fans behind us in this critical stage.”
