Former Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti plans to take a season-long sabbatical before he coaches again.
Ancelotti tells Turin daily La Stampa that
“I enjoyed my experience in England, but next year I will not manage any team. Apart from a six-month break, I have been working constantly since 1995. Now I am stopping for a year to look around and study how my colleagues work. I have always said and I reiterate it that one day I will coach Roma, but it’s still early.”
Ancelotti had been strongly linked to the opening at Aston Villa, as well as with newly-promoted QPR and Fulham. This announcement effectively rules him out of those openings.
In a years time England could be looking for a manager which could create an opening for Ancelotti, or if Harry Redknapp gets the England spot, Ancelotti would then be the top candidate for the Spurs position.
