The English Premier League break because of the FA cup commitment could actually be a good moment for Chelsea in order to find their form back to their highest standard especially after they successfully trashed their opponents in the cup, Ipswich Town, with an amazing 7-0 scoreline.
Although stating that the victory won’t guarantee anything, the Blues’ coach, Carlo Ancelotti, hopes that at least the big win would motivate and bring confidence for Chelsea’s players before facing the real test against Blackburn Rovers in the league.
Ancelotti admitted that he was delighted with the performance that his players put out in the match against Ipswich, but seems to be careful in stating his confidence especially since Chelsea haven’t been playing that well lately. Beside pleased with the result, another thing that excites the Italian coach is the return of Nicolas Anelka and Frank Lampard’s sharpness in front of the goal especially the later who hasn’t been playing well in previous games after his come back from injury.
“We needed to have this kind of performance and Nicolas Anelka and Frank Lampard returned to scoring but we mustn’t be excited because we have to give the same performance next week against Blackburn,” Ancelotti stated. “This victory will improve our confidence and we can prepare well for the game but we will have to wait to say that everything is okay. There are some things we can do better but it was important to play good football today.”
Revieling more about Lampard’s return to sharpness, Ancelotti believes that from this game the player would continue to improve as playing this kind of games is always good in helping a player that have been absent for a while. The tactician praises the English international’s performance in the game and claim that the former West Ham player is currently in his best condition, this should really helped improve Chelsea’s performance in the upcoming game in the league.
The inconsistency that strucked Chelsea in the last few matches seems to give a much more cautions approach by the coach as the defeat against Wolves in the Blues’ league match has reportedly make things hard for Ancelotti. However, this huge win will at least lift the players motivation before facing more important task in the league and also Champions League that set to start again in February.

Caution is definitely the name of the game. This win against Ipswich desperately needs to be followed up with another one against Blackburn. Great to see Lampard back amongst the goals and I don’t think it’s a coincidence that form starts to improve with his return.
