Fernando Torres’ arrival in the winter transfer window has left the door open for Daniel Sturridge to get a playing time elsewhere as he won’t be able to showcase his talent at Chelsea due to the limited playing time he’ll get.
This fact once again proved to be a wonderful solution for the player himself, who find a perfect environment in Bolton Wonderers to improve his quality which in the future could bring him back to play in the Blues colors.
Despite already settling in well with his current club, Sturridge’s on loan status means that the young striker will return to Chelsea in the summer and that’s also what the club’s tactician, Carlo Ancelotti, wanted. The Italian manager stated that loaning the England under 21 international was simply the best way to help the player in improving his qualities by getting plenty of playing time under a quality club such as Bolton Wanderers.
“It was the right time to go and play on loan because he didn’t have a lot of space here and he needed to play. He found a very good club who are playing good football. Sturridge can show his quality,” Ancelotti said. “I hope he can score more and then in the summer he will come back.”
The Italian’s statement might definitely be something more than just sweet talks as previous reports did suggested that the Blues are preparing to let go some of their veteran players including strikers such as Didier Drogba, who is already aging. Should the reformation in the front line is indeed being executed next season, Sturridge will surely be one of the contenders to be at Chelsea’s rooster or even starting alongside Torres.
The confidence that Ancelotti had on Sturridge should be more than enough insurance for the young striker that he does have a future at the Blues despite the rumors saying that the club are still looking for more attacking talent in the summer. Although nothing can predict the future, surely if the England under 21 international keeps on improving his performance at Bolton, on the summer the striker will probably wearing his blue shirt once again and this time it might be permanent.
