Ancelotti Considers Making A January Signing

60464613Chelsea‘s current injury issues especially in their defensive department has forced their manager, Carlo Ancelotti, to finally consider about making a Winter signing especially if Alex’s condition isn’t getting better until the end of January next year.

Ancelotti himself stated this possibility to the media as the former Ac Milan coach revealed that all though the plan is there, the Blues won’t be making a rush signing as everything will be decided only if their Brazilian defender won’t be fit next month.

“Until the 31st of January, if we are sure that Alex will have resolved his problem, we won’t need another defender. We have to wait to see his condition,” Ancelotti stated. “We can think about things, a new defender, towards the end of January. That would be the only position.”

Moreover, should they do decide to sign a new defender in the winter, Ancelotti also hinted that the player could be an English player or at the very least a premier league based one because it will make things easy for Chelsea. The tactician believed signing someone who doesn’t need lots of adaption in terms of language and playing style in the league is an important factor that the club will take consideration when they make a January signing.

“Obviously, if you take an English player, you don’t have a problem with the culture, the language, Maybe they have advantages for this reason,” Ancelotti said.

Considering the a tighter money policy that the Blues have been implementing this season, it is obvious that the fans might not expect plenty surprises in the winter as just like their coach said, the team will only consider a move for a new defender. Although the current slump that the team’s are having are being connected with the lack of depth they possessed especially at the back as Chelsea did offload Ricaldo Carvalho last summer and didn’t picked up a proper replacement for the Portuguese.

Surely adding another center back would be an useful addition for the Blues as having a quality depth in all ends was pretty much the main strength that becomes the key of their double winning success last season. Should this plan really happens, it would be interesting to seek out the candidates that the Blues will get in the winter as previous reports haven’t really linked them with local players that Ancelotti actually consider as the main objective.
