9 Men Chelsea Beaten by QPR

Referee awards a corner to Chelsea off CahillChelsea failed to capitalize on Manchester United‘s heavy defeat earlier on as Andre Villas Boas team were beaten by Queens Park Rangers (QPR) 1-0 in a highly controversial match which saw the Blues conceded a goal from a penalty kick and losing two players in the first half.

The result forced Chelsea to remain in third place with 19 points and must now stay on their toe because fourth place, Newcastle United are also closing in on them with the same point.

Playing right after finding out the result of Manchester Derby supposedly gift a lift for Chelsea’s players, knowing that a win would see them pass Manchester United in second place. However, the script obviously went awfully wrong for Villas Boas after just 8 minutes as the visitor were being punished with a spot kick which was given away by David Luiz.

Helguson converted the penalty perfectly to give QPR the lead but it’s obviously isn’t that much of a concern for Villas Boas but things finally gets out of hand after Jose Bosingwa got send off after pulling down Wright-Phillips, who could’ve run through on goal if not for the foul made by the Portuguese. As if things can’t get really bad for the Blues, few minutes later, it was Didier Drogba’s turn to receive a marching order after his two footed challenge was considered dangerous by the referee, who immediately show the red card to the Ivory Coast international striker.

Despite playing with 10 men, Chelsea still manage to trouble their opponent and actually went close to get the equalizing goal in several occasions especially in the second. However, luck seems to be running away from the Blues this Sunday as until the final whistle blown by the referee, they can’t get the goal their looking war, thus leaving the pitch mightily disappointed with their failure to jump into the table.

I as a chelsea fan am so disapointed by the result.I thought we would be second but unfortunately things didnt turn out right.Am also very pleased as nine men managed to keep that one given goal to QPR.This shows how good our players are and despite that we took larger possetion of the ball.We tried to equalise but today was not our day.Big up to andres to a fantastic technic of planning the players right and the big hope after the two reds.Bosingwa’s red was not fair and our dissapointing hero with lots of experiance burried us alife. Now we should forget the past and focus on the future. The blues will always be supported and loved by us fans as football is only a 90 minutes play.Big up blues and best of luck in future!!
